NLN Round-up: Fagbola extends FC United stay

Former County defender, Jordan Fagbola, has extended his stay at FC United after signing a one year contract with the Moston-based club.

The 23-year-old defender, who spent four years at County under a number of different managers, joined the club in January of this year after a short stint at Solihull Moors.

Fagbola started the last eight matches in a row for FCUM, and his performances in the latter part of the season were enough to earn the former Rochdale defender a 12 month contract.

Elsewhere in the National League North, Alfreton Town continue to strengthen for the new season with the re-signing of Brad McGowan, their 2017 player of the year.

Chorley fans will also be pleased with the news of Jake Cottrell signing for a further season, the midfielder now enters his fifth season at the Lancashire club and has made more than 200 appearances for The Magpies.

Finally, highly rated Shrewsbury striker, Ethan Jones, has decided to sign for Southport, despite interest from a number of clubs. The 19-year-old has cited game time as the main reason for his move to The Sandgrounders.

We Signed a Winger!

Welcome to County, Micah Evans. The former Blackburn, Burnley and Southport winger has plenty of football league experience. He started his career at Blackburn Rovers before being loaned to several clubs. In 2013 Micah signed for Burnley’s Development Squad, from there he was loaned to Hereford before signing for Conference side Southport and made 16 appearances for Southport last season. Despite his vast array of experience at different clubs situated in the north of the country, Evans is only 22 years old and has been described as quick, strong and hungry for success by manager Neil Young.

Whilst I think we’re a little excited and perhaps biased becauae we’ve actually bought a winger for a change, this could be a really good signing and hopefully can be seen as a player on the way up rather than on the way down. Time will tell, Evans has been a bit of a journeyman so far in his short career, so let’s hope that Edgeley Park can be a successful home for him.

The talented winger will join forces with fellow recent County signings: Hurst, O’Hanlon, Morton, Rule, Roberts, Colley and Robinson. (More players to follow, hopefully!)
