Chris Smalley

Chris Smalley joined County midway through the 2015/16 campaign and impressed incoming boss, Jim Gannon enough to earn a contract for the 2016/17 season. The defender struck up an immediate partnership with fellow centre back, Michael Clarke, and despite injuries, racked up 42 appearances for County last year.

Like many current County players, the former Kendal defender has played under current County manager Jim Gannon at Northwich Victoria, and this familiarity surely helped as County finished one point outside the play-off spots.

The defender has earned himself an additional one year contract after a successful first full season at the club, and will be hoping to remain an integral part of what turned out to be one of the best defensive partnerships in the National League North last season.
