Stockport County welcome Leamington FC to Edgeley Park this weekend, as they go in search of sustaining a recent run of form which has seen the Hatters flirt with the play-offs with only nine matches to go.
The Brakes are back in Northern football after a two-year hiatus in the Evo-stik Southern Premier, the club were promoted to the sixth tier last summer after defeating Hitchin Town in the play-off final. Based in Warwickshire, Leamington are one of the most southern-based clubs in the NLN.
This season, under the management of Paul Holleran, Leamington look set to achieve their aim of staying in the division for another year. A recent run of three victories in the last four matches has seen them pull clear of relegation and now only eight points behind County (albeit with an extra game played).
The Brakes were in action just 48 hours before the match at Edgeley Park this weekend, losing 1-0 to our play-off rivals Spennymoor Town. Hatters manager Jim Gannon will be hoping that the extra two days recovery for his side will help in securing an important victory.
Paul Turnbull will hope to make his first start for County since joining from Chester, whilst Sam Minihan will be aiming for game time as he continues his return to fitness.
Darren Stephenson’s impressive cameo against Boston could earn the former Chorley attacker a start. Youngster Adam Etches, who has featured on the County bench a number of times this season, has left on loan to Hyde United in order to gain playing time.
Edgeley Park, Hardcastle Road, Stockport, SK3 9DD.
Admission for the match will cost supporters £15/£10/£5 with pay-on-the-gate available for both home and away fans.
