A late Brackley Town goal meant the Hatters slumped to their second consecutive league defeat at Edgeley Park on Saturday.
The Hatters were on top for the majority of the game, but were limited to half-chances by the well-organised Brackley Town side.
Jason Oswell had an effort pushed over the bar by Danny Lewis, whilst Harry Winter also came close with a shot from range that was tipped around the post by the Brackley ‘keeper.
The visitors were third in the league coming into today’s game, and their superiority began to show as the game drew to a close.
Aarón Williams rounded Ben Hinchliffe with 5 minutes to go and looked certain to score, only for Michael Clarke to block the shot and divert it away from danger.
But Williams did get his goal only 3 minutes later, slotting Home from close range to give Town the three points.
Some late pressure from the Hatters was not enough, who will rue their inability to truly unlock the away side who will likely make the play-offs.
