PREVIEW: Brackley take on County for eighth time in two seasons

Stockport County take on Brackley Town again this weekend, as the two teams lock heads in the National League North.

The Hatters currently sit just outside the play-offs, and need three points to put pressure on the top seven as the race for promotion hots up.

Brackley Town, meanwhile, are comfortably third and sit 15 points ahead of County going into the game.

One of the southern-most sides in the division, Brackley Town are also one of the smallest. At 427, The Saints had the lowest average attendance in the National League North last season despite an impressive campaign in which they missed out on the play-offs by a single point. That finish, in the upper echelons of the division, was their highest ever but the club are well-placed to go one better this year, sitting third in the division going into the league match on Saturday.

Last season, County faced the Northamptonshire side no less than four times, losing in the league at home and eventually in the FA Trophy after the game went to a replay. The Hatters did, however, put in a fine away performance at St James’ Park to come away with the three points in a 3-0 league victory.

Current form suggests it will be a tough afternoon for the Hatters, the Saints have only lost one match in their last 18 games, and also beat the Hatters on Tuesday in the trophy quarter final.

Team News:

Rhys Turner could be in for a first start since limping off injured against Southport in January, whilst Sam Minihan may feature but is likely still returning to fitness following his operation earlier in the year.

Jamie Stott may return after being cup-tied for the FA Trophy match, whilst new signing Paul Turnbull could feature in midfield after the former Macclesfield man returned to the Hatters on a free transfer from Chester.
