Brackley Town visit Edgeley Park this weekend in the Buildbase FA Trophy Quarter Final, with the Hatters looking to reach the semi-final of the competition for the first time in their history.
One of the southern-most sides in the division, Brackley Town are also one of the smallest. At 427, The Saints had the lowest average attendance in the National League North last season despite an impressive campaign in which they missed out on the play-offs by a single point. That finish, in the upper echelons of the division, was their highest ever but the club are well-placed to go one better this year, sitting third in the division going into the FA Trophy clash this weekend.
Last season, County faced the Northamptonshire side no less than four times, losing in the league at home and eventually in the FA Trophy after the game went to a replay. The Hatters did, however, put in a fine away performance at St James’ Park to come away with the league points in a 3-0 victory.
Current form suggests it will be a tough afternoon for the Hatters, the Saints have only lost one match in their last 17 games, and dumped National League side Barrow out in the last round of the competition.
As has been the case for all the previous rounds of the trophy this season, Jim Gannon will likely name a strong team for the quarter final clash.
Jason Oswell could return to the starting line up after being dropped by Gannon to the bench for the midweek clash against Nuneaton. Whilst Rhys Turner could also be in for a first start since limping off injured against Southport last month. Sam Minihan is still returning to fitness from his groin injury, and will miss out.
Edgeley Park, Hardcastle Road, Stockport, SK3 9DD.
Admission for the match will cost supporters £13/£8/£4 with pay-on-the-gate available for both home and away fans.
