Stockport County are back in FA Trophy action this weekend, taking on fellow National League North opposition Kidderminster Harriers at their Aggborough Stadium.
The Harriers, who were founded in 1886, are another of the National League North’s big-hitters. Currently training full-time in a bid to return to the fifth tier of English football. But after an unfortunate campaign in 2017, where they finished runners up the AFC Fylde before bowing out of the play-offs to Chorley in the semi-finals, the Harriers have been unable to replicate the form which saw them push the Coasters all the way last season, as they sit 15 points off the current leaders Salford.
Kidderminster have already beaten County once this season, with a 3-1 victory at Edgeley Park back in November. But there are currently only three points separating the two sides in the league, as both clubs begin to tick.
The Reds have already vanquished two National League North sides in the tournament, beating Boston in a replay in the qualifier before knocking York City out with a 2-1 victory.
With County’s fixture schedule piling up in the wake of their FA Trophy progress, Jim Gannon may opt to provide further game time to some fringe first-team players like Ian Ormson, Michael Clarke and Ben McKenna.
Rhys Turner may also be set for a first start as he aims to return to match fitness following his limited playing time this season, whilst Bohan Dixon could come in for the injured Matty Warburton, with the former Fylde midfielder hoping to build on his impressive cameo versus Salford last weekend.
