Stockport County yesterday continued their progress in the Cheshire Senior Cup, with a 4-2 victory over Barnton FC at Edgeley Park.
Jim Gannon named a side that mixed academy prospects with first-team fringe players. A decision that paid off as the Hatters secured an eventually comfortable victory.
Sajjad Elhassan and Kaithan Farnworth made senior debuts for the Hatters, with the former particularly impressing the County faithful in attendance.
Senior professionals Sam Walker, Ben McKenna, Michael Clarke, Ian Ormson, Harry Brazel and newly-signed Szymon Czubik also appeared alongside the academy players.
A left footed drive from Ben McKenna put the Hatters in front but the home side found themselves 2-1 behind at the break, after conceding two soft goals before half-time.
McKenna added his and County’s second after the break, whilst Brazel and Czubik also scored late on to secure victory and passage to the second round.
