Hatters drawn at home for FA Trophy

Stockport County have been drawn at home against Southport FC for the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

The game, which will take place on Saturday 25th November, will be the second time the sides have met this season at Edgeley Park, with the first finishing in a 6-0 win for County back in September.

With £5,000 available for the winner of the tie, the competition is not one to be taken lightly and Jim Gannon will likely name a strong side.

York City, who won the competition last season, secured over £100,000 in prize money alone and the money has contributed to them remaining full-time this season, despite their back-to-back relegations into the National League North.

The club are yet to announce ticket prices for the game, but admission will probably come at a reduced £10/£7/£3.

  1. As per, I’m expecting some fans to say that this competition isn’t important or (and I’ve heard this before) we’re too big to take the FA Trophy seriously. I couldn’t disagree more. I’d look on it as a highlight as a County fan if we were able to win this competition whilst down at this level. I want us to take non-league seriously because we have no choice to. It’s high time those aforementioned fans started thinking the same.
