Southport FC have parted company with Alan Lewer and Mark Wright, following a run of four straight defeats in the National League North.
Before the run of losses, which started at Edgeley Park in a 6-0 defeat, Southport were sitting third in the table after an impressive start to the season.
But defeats to Kidderminster, Harrogate and Nuneaton in September have prompted calls for Lewer to resign and the duo left the Merseyside club on Tuesday.
Sandgrounders Director Ian Kyle said: “We would like to thank Mark and Alan for their hard work and dedication over the last few months, however, on the back of recent performances on the pitch. The chairman and Board of Directors felt it in the best interests of the club and the Management team to move in a different direction.
The club today began recruiting for a new first team manager, with club captain Steven Schumacher and goalkeeping coach Iain Turner taking charge of first-team duties in the meantime.
