PREVIEW: County hope to return to winning ways against Avenue

Stockport County return Edgeley Park this weekend, with the Hatters aiming to return to winning ways following their defeat last Saturday in the Midlands.

The Opposition:

Re-founded in 1984, Bradford Park Avenue sit in the shadow of their near-neighbours, but despite having an average attendance of only 450 last year, making it one of the lowest in the league, Avenue have held their own in the National League North for the previous six seasons.

In 2017, BPA have had a reasonable start to the season and currently sit one position below County in the table (10th). They’re unbeaten in the last three games, drawing with Chorley in their most recent match. On visiting Edgeley Park, Avenue will be hoping for their second league win in succession at the ground, having beaten County last winter 2-1. Read more about Bradford Park Avenue here.

Team news:

County were depleted for their fixture against Tamworth last weekend, but Gannon has hinted at the return of five senior players to his match-day squad this weekend.

Midfielder Gary Stopforth is expected to make his return for the Hatters this weekend after international clearance came through for the club, whilst Jason Oswell, Stephen O’Halloran, Harry Winter and Ben McKenna will all also play a part.

The match will be played at Edgeley Park, with the Main Stand, Cheadle End and Popular Side open for home supporters and the Pop Side allocated for away fans.

Edgeley Park, Hardcastle Road, Stockport SK3 9DD

Entry to the ground will cost £15, £10 or £5.

As usual, imagine FM will be commentating on the game via County Player or 104.9fm. Alternatively social media updates will be available on Twitter and Facebook.
