PREVIEW: County set their sights on Trinity

Stockport County take on Gainsborough Trinity at Edgeley Park this Saturday as they go in search of back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The Opposition:

Gainsborough Trinity are one of the only teams that have remained in the National League North since its inception in 2004. They came closest to exiting the division last season when they finished 19th, just missing out on relegation at the expense of Stalybridge Celtic.

This year, Trinity have had another difficult start with only one win in the first five matches. Under the guidance of Dave Frecklington, the club will once again be hoping to avoid relegation and build on the 26% increase in attendances that the club enjoyed last season.

Team news:

Gannon may have one eye on Monday’s game against Tamworth and could rotate his squad accordingly.

The manager will be hoping to get Gary Stopforth’s international clearance sorted in time for the games this weekend. The midfielder could play a part from at least the bench.

In defence, Stephen O’Halloran will miss out as he nurses an injury sustained on the opening day of the campaign whilst Michael Clarke should feature despite his head injury last weekend.

The match will be played at Edgeley Park, with the Main Stand, Cheadle End and Popular Side open for home supporters and the Pop Side allocated for away fans.
