Stockport County host National League Premier side Barrow AFC at Edgeley Park on Saturday, in the club’s final pre-season match of the campaign.
Barrow AFC, founded in 1901 and located in Cumbria, currently play in the National League Premier division, with the club only just missing out on the play-offs last season. The Bluebirds have spent the majority of their existence in the lower leagues, with their highest finish coming in the 66-67 season, the club finished 3rd in the old fourth division, two places behind, coincidentally, Stockport County.
More recently, the club has yo-yoed between the fifth and sixth tier of English football and have been at their current level since winning the Conference North title in 2015, coinciding with new American owner, Paul Casson, taking over the club in 2014.
Considering the game will act as the final preparation before the visit to newly-promoted Spennymoor Town next Saturday, County manager Jim Gannon will likely name a side similar to the one that he wants to start the season at the North East club.
Michael Clarke and Adam Thomas will hope to return from the non-serious injuries after both limped off against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night, whilst Ormson and Hinchliffe will both be looking to improve on already impressive pre-season.
The match will be played at Edgeley Park, with the Main Stand and Cheadle End open for home supporters and the Pop Side/Railway End for away supporters, depending on the weather.
All supporters should be wary of the A6 closure in Stockport town centre and factor these delays into their journey.
Edgeley Park, Hardcastle Road, Stockport SK3 9DD
Admission is priced at £10/£7/£4/Free and kick off will be 7.45pm.
