Report: County 5-2 Macclesfield

County easily overcame National League Premier side Macclesfield Town at Edgeley Park, scoring five goals in the process.

Two goals from Oswell and three from Warburton ensured The Hatters took home the bragging rights in the Cheshire Derby.

County started brightly but were one goal down after only minutes after Koby Arthur headed home from a corner.

Warburton equalised shortly after with a good turn of pace before Wilson restored Town’s lead. The break followed shortly followed as the rest of the half passed without incident.

County came out unchanged and equalised shortly after the restart, Oswell fired home from close range after sustained County pressure.

The Hatters soon took the lead after a great Oswell through-ball was finished by Warburton. Three minutes later Oswell headed home his second and County were 4-2 up.

Warburton missed an opportunity for a third before a good show of tenacity saw him in on goal. As the number ten was about to pull the trigger he was brought down for a penalty, which the former Salford man duly put away.

Oswell thought he’d scored a sixth but the liners flag denied him too a hattrick. But Town were well beaten as the game ended 5-2.
