Stockport take on National League Premier side Macclesfield Town this Saturday in the second of four Edgeley Park friendlies during pre-season.
Macclesfield Town currently ply their trade in the division above County, but came reasonably close to returning to the football league last year with a commendable 9th-placed finish under long-serving manager, John Askey.
The club currently have former Hatter Courtney Meppen-Walters on trial as well as Shay Given, Wes Brown and Alex Bruce training at the club, although the latter three are unlikely to play a part in the Edgeley Park friendly this weekend.
Jim Gannon is likely to name a strong side for the fixture, after resting a number of first-team players at Ashton United on Tuesday night. Jason Oswell, Darren Stephenson, Michael Clarke and Sam Walker are all expected to return to the starting line-up.
Academy player Tom Whitty could miss out after suffering an injury at Hurst Cross whilst Sam Minihan and Adam Thomas will be hoping to continue their recoveries from their respective injuries suffered last season.
The match will be played at Edgeley Park, with the Main Stand and Cheadle End open for home supporters and the Pop Side/Railway End for away supporters.
Edgeley Park, Hardcastle Road, Stockport SK3 9DD
Tickets are priced at £10/£7/£4/Free for all supporters and kick off is the usual 3pm.
