County came out on top against lower-league opposition for the second time in four days as they ran out 2-1 winners at Altrincham’s Moss Lane.
The Hatters made one change as Sam Minihan’s injury meant Dan Cowan made a first County start. Whilst five former County players made up the Altrincham starting XI including Tim Deasy, Kyle Brownhill and Josh Amis.
Hinchliffe made a couple of impressive saves from Poole and Hancock before the impressive Stephenson’s cut-back was touched into the net by Heathcote for an own goal.
After a couple of nervy moments at the back for Alty, County extended their lead on 44 minutes, with Oswell nodding a Harry Winter set-piece into the corner of the goal to leave The Hatters two up at half-time.
Hinchliffe was replaced by Ormson in what was County’s only half-time change, but it was The Robins that started quicker and forced a number of good saves from Ormson before pulling one back in the 80th minute, a well-worked move culminating in Hancock scoring from close range.
West and Warburton could have sealed the victory for Stockport as both went close, but the two first half goals were enough as it ended 2-1.
