The game comes seventy days after County’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Gloucester saw their season end somewhat prematurely, but after the signing of six new players to complement the thirteen retained members of the squad, many County fans are optimistic of challenging again for promotion.

The Opposition:

Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads currently play in the Cheshire Football Premier League, the eleventh tier of English football and the feeder league to the North West Counties division 1. Nomads are currently plying their trade against the likes of Altrincham FC Reserves, Poynton and Wythenshawe Town and finished second last season behind Knutsford.

County have agreed to a yearly friendly with The Nomads, and in return the first team and academy currently train at The Heath, with the classrooms, 3G facilities and well-maintained grass pitch a good base for The Hatters during the week.

Team news:

Jim Gannon is likely to provide all 19 registered players an opportunity to play this weekend, meaning that the five new players (Jason Oswell, Darren Stephenson, Matty Warburton, Sam Walker, Dan Cowan) will all make their debuts alongside the returning Stephen O’Halloran.

These games usually play host to a number of triallists too,  so expect to see some unfamiliar faces as they aim to impress Gannon, Flynn and co.

Venue:

The Nomads currently play their home games at The Heath on Norbreck Avenue. A clubhouse sits on one side of the ground with a small dugout and seated stand sitting opposite. County fans requiring seating should aim to arrive early, with only 40 available (alternatively bring your deck chairs).
