Six players have been released from the club following the conclusion of the 2016/17 season last weekend. With the most surprising of those included former County captain, Mark Ross.
The defender played 49 times for County this season, featuring heavily at full-back and towards the end of the season, at centre-back as well. His most memorable moments, amongst a number of clean-sheets, would have been scoring against Tamworth in front of the Cheadle End.
Strikers John Marsden, Sefton Gonzales and Kayode Odejayi also failed to make the cut as Jim Gannon looks to rebuild his attacking options for next season, whilst the club are currently in talks with Danny Lloyd and Josh Amis regarding a new contract.
Elsewhere, Courtney Meppen-Walters and Ryan Ellison have also been released from the club. The midfielder made 32 appearances for County and scored four goals whilst defender spent the majority of the season out on loan and failed to make a first team appearance.
County fans are in clear agreement that every player released put 100% effort in for County whenever they’ve played this season. We’d like to wish all six players the best of luck for the future.
