Spennymoor have been around in some way, shape or form since 1931, when the club played under the name of Evenwood Town FC. The club merged in 2005 with Spennymoor United and collectively changed their name to Town following that point.

Since their name change twelve years ago, the club have seen a rise through the divisions culminating in their highest ever finish last season to see promotion through to the sixth tier of English football, overseen by manager Jason Ainsley. The club’s main rivals are Darlington FC and the club have had a number of heated matches in recent years.

Based 93 miles north of Stockport, The Moors are one of the most northern-based teams in the league and the meeting on the opening day of the season will be the first between the two sides.

Spennymoor play their home games at Brewery Field, a 3,000 capacity venue that features a small main stand, two open ends and one covered terrace. Keep an eye out for the iconic Spennymoor arch at the Wood Vue entrance, a sign that had the ‘United FC’ removed after the merge and name change in 2005.
