Since 2012, and until 2015, Alfreton had been playing in the conference premier under the management of Nicky Law. In the 2012-2013 season, Law led Alfreton to their highest ever position of 13th in the 5th tier of English Football. Fast forward a couple of years and a disappointing season led to the Reds finishing 21st and resulting in their relegation to the Vanarama National League North for the 2015/16.

The Reds had a mixed bag of it last season, they finished 10th overall after missing out on a late play-off charge. The reds were also one of the only teams that County did the double over last year. (1-0 and 3-0)

The ground that County fans will be visiting next season is the Impact Arena, a 3,600 seater ground with 1500 seats. With the ground being only 90 minutes drive away, the County faithful could end up travelling in good numbers to the East Midlands.
