The stage is set as Stockport County travel to Whaddon Road this coming Saturday as The Hatters go in search of three points to add to their solid start in the current campaign. However, with Gloucester City sitting just above County, in what has been a great season for them so far, this won’t come easy.
Gloucester City, formed as Gloucester in 1883 they became Gloucester City in 1902. Nicknamed “The Tigers”, Gloucester have had a great run in this current campaign, sitting 9th in the National North League, just one place and one point above The Hatters, despite losing their last three games.
Tigers manager, Tim Harris looks to bounce back from Gloucester’s recent three defeats against, Kidderminster, Chorley and Curzon Ashton. Tim told Gloucester Live: “If you look at the size and stature of them then you’ll see that they really shouldn’t be in our league” however, Tim feels positive adding “We can’t be too down, we are still above Stockport in the table! I’m staying positive despite three losses in a row”.
The Hatters last game on their travels resulted in a 2-2 stalemate against high flying Tamworth and more recently, beating Bradford PA at Home in the FA Trophy, however, away from the FA Trophy, County will need to be on top form to beat The Tigers, certainly easier said than done.
This week we heard the great news, regarding Stockport County manager- Jim Gannon signing a three-year managerial contract extension till 2019. So, let’s get behind Jim Gannon and the boys in blue as the Hatters look to get back into winning ways in the league after a stop-start November.
What can we expect come 3pm Saturday? – As the two sides are well in the mix of promotion, the battle begins for that ultimate prize-Promotion. The promise of goals may not be evident as both defences are proven to be tough to beat, however, on the day, anything can happen, without further a-do- COME ON COUNTYYY!
