Courtney Meppen-Walter joined County during May 2016, becoming Jim Gannon’s second signing from Chorley during the close season. The defender has previously played for Manchester City and Carlisle as well as captaining England at U18 level.
Despite strong offers from Chorley and other clubs higher up the footballing pyramid, the 6ft 3 defender opted to join County for the coming season and has signed a one year deal.
The deal split the County faithful, with the defender having been found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving. Some fans believed that The Hatters should have stayed well away from employing the centre back.
Regardless, Courtney is now a County player and seems keen to get his career moving in the right direction, it’s likely after his impressive end to the season at Chorley, he’ll be starting at the back for County when pre-season roles around in July.
