County signed 23 year old striker, John Marsden on a permanent deal from Colwyn Bay this week. And the Englishman will head straight into the side that plays Telford this weekend in what is a must-win game for the Hatters.
Marsden initially signed for Celtic at the age of 16, who spotted the striker during his days as a Liverpool schoolboy. However, John failed to settle, and injuries meant he made the move the nearby Stockport Sports, here he averaged 2 goals in every 3 games and impressed enough to earn a deal with Stoke City. After failing to break into the first team that year, Marsden had spells at Shrewsbury, Southport, Lincoln and Macclesfield before moving to Colwyn Bay.
His 6 months in north Wales proved to be the most successful since his time at Stockport Sports, and before making the move the County earlier this week, Marsden was the top scorer for the Seagulls, who currently lie 20th in the Northern Premier League.
Here’s hoping John can settle at County and perhaps become the solution to some of our current goalscoring issues.
