FA Trophy: County 0-2 Nantwich

‘We didn’t want to win it anyway!’ and ‘it’ll just get in the way of promotion’ were two of the comments I heard as I exited the ground or saw as I browsed social media after the game, and don’t get me wrong, it’s not a disaster to our season that we lost. However, this game was a chance to show the doubters that we were promotion material, that we could score goals all the while earning a few grand on the side for a cup run.

In the end, doubts were reaffirmed, heads were shaken and Nantwich left Edgeley £5k richer than they arrived. There’s not much point going through the match, it’ll only bring up bad memories to the thousand of us that braved it. The one moment worth mentioning that summed up our season completely was Margetts’ hesitant miss of the open goal midway through the second half. Now it wasn’t exactly a great way to endear yourself to the County faithful. But let’s be honest, it was County all over. How? Just how?

Anyway, Nantwich won 2-0. We’re out of the FA trophy. The end.

On to FC United. A must win game.
