County’s first friendly under Neil Young and the ‘new look’ Hatters begins In just a few days time. County will take on Clitheroe at Shawbridge. The game acts almost as an unofficial ‘thank you’ for the signing of highly rated Danny Morton, one of Young’s first appointments in the close season.
Established in 1877, Clitheroe was originally a hotel team which then formed into ‘Clitheroe Football Team’ in the 20th Century.
The Blues currently play in the Northern Premier League and their ground has a capacity of 2,000. Clitheroe finished 13th last season and look to push on further up the table in the 2015/16 season.
County fans will be able to glimpse the squad for the first time, and considering Neil Young has overhauled the squad completely, it will be interesting to see how each player fits into Young’s plans. Of those expected to feature, at least 10 will be new signings, whilst there will no doubt be trialists on show as well. Contracted players who were transfer listed may also get a run out and a chance to show the boss what they can do, so this game will be particularly important for them.
