O’Halloran to Salford City

Stephen O’Halloran, one of our stand-out players for last season and a contender for player of the year, has left the club at the end of his contract and signed for Salford City. Salford play in the league below County, so it could be seen as a step down by some. At this point, it is unclear as to whether O’Halloran has left as a result of not being offered a new contract or he has decided to of his own accord. O’Halloran is currently studying to be a physiotherapist at Salford University and this may have influenced his decision to move, then again it could have been money or just that he was not wanted at County by Young.

The tweet that confirmed the news

The tweet was confirmed by Salford’s chairman, and retweeted by one Gary Neville. Whatever the reasoning behind his departure from County, he will be sorely missed. O’Halloran gave his all to the club in the two years he was here and as a County fan I’d like to wish him all the best at Salford. Hopefully Gregson can come back to full fitness and Young can get another quality centre back in to supplement the squad.
